Comprising two choirs (the Belters with more modern repertoire and the Divas with a classical repertoire), Barcarolle offers something to suit all musical tastes and ability levels. Described as ‘a fine body of singers’ by John Packwood in the Bristol Evening Post, they have delighted audiences with their fresh, inspiring interpretations of choral repertory from many centuries. Members of the choir come from many parts of the UK for intensive weekends of music-making, culminating in concerts acclaimed for their invigorating choral sound, clarity of tone and texture, and innovative programming. In June 2010 Harmonia Sacra were invited to perform a programme of music by early seventeenth-century English Recusant musicians (including William Byrd, Richard Dering and Peter Philips) for a Swansea University History conference at Oystermouth. Each Funky Voices rehearsal is taught by highly qualified and experienced music tutors. Sandra Colston BA Hons (Musical Director) arranges the music to suit the choir members, and to bring the music up to date and possible for a choir to sing. The Sound With passions for vocal harmonies, and personal influences being likes of; Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind and Fire, Luther Vandross, Brian McKnight, Michael Jackson. We welcom...  moreThe J Singers combine singing ‘seriously for pleasure’ with performing charity fund-raising concerts throughout the county of Somerset. We sing a varied mix of music from traditional ballads and songs from the West End shows, to popular numbers. We welcome new adult members with or without prior choral experience. You do need some musical ability, but it's not essential to read music. Rehearsals are in Wembdon, near Bridgwater, on a Tuesday evening.

All of our singers have been hand-picked and sing with some of the top amateur and professional choirs in the country, including: I Fagiolini, Genesis Sixteen, The Carice Singers, Renaissance, The National Youth Choir of Great Britain and many more. Our new Musical Director, Julian Collings joined the choir beginning of 2019. Over the last few years the choir has enjoyed a growing reputation for its repertoire of outstanding contemporary music alongside the established classics. TCS latest performances included The Creation of Haydn, Mendelssohn's Elijah, Mass in Blue of Todd, Rossini's Petite Messe solennelle. The Choir also perform a Christmas Concert every year. Overall we perform three main concerts a year. During its performances TCS enjoys the participation of professional soloists and orchestras and ensembles. Phil Culling is our accompanist. With past successes and imaginative programming, TCS is thriving. We are always glad to welcome new singers, regardless of age; especiallly those who enjoy their music making. We like to rehearse and perform with our sense of humour switched on.  less
