Since 1993, The Australian voices have championed an astonishing flourish of new Australian vocal music, having commissioned hundreds of new works. Much of this new music captures vividly the vibrant sound, colour, and energy of the Australian continent and its people. The singers, aged between 17 and 28 come from different Australian cities and commit to a rigorous professional schedule of concerts and workshops, both in Australia and throughout the world. This vocal ensemble has been recognised by many international awards and honours as one of the finest of its type in the world. O Concerto de Natal “A Little Jazz Mass” de Bob Chilcott tem como protagonistas o Coro Pactis e os Wave Jazz Ensemble que subiram ao palco do Centro Cultural e de Congressos de Angra do Heroísmo, no dia 20 de dezembro, para mostrar a articulação de dois p...  moreO Concerto de Natal “A Little Jazz Mass” de Bob Chilcott tem como protagonistas o Coro Pactis e os Wave Jazz Ensemble que subiram ao palco do Centro Cultural e de Congressos de Angra do Heroísmo, no dia 20 de dezembro, para mostrar a articulação de dois projetos distintos numa toada jazz em ambiente natalício. Trata-se de uma peça com cinco andamentos, escrita para o coro infantil New Orleans Children, aquando da participação no Crescent City Festival de New Orleans, em 2009. Fazem ainda parte da peça alguns clássicos de Natal como "Zat You Santa Claus", popularizado por Louis Armstrong; "Little Drummer Boy" ou "Silent Night" com arranjos próprios do quinteto. Enquanto o Coro Pactis tem Fátima Gonçalves na direção musical, o Wave Jazz Ensemble integra os músicos Rui Melo, Paulo Cunha, Paulo Borges, Nuno Pinheiro e Antonella Barletta. Downtown voices has performed works by Reena Esmail, Ludwig van Beethoven, Johannes Brahms, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Arvo Pärt, Anton Webern, Alberto Ginastera, Leoš Janáček, James MacMillan, and Philip Glass. The choir was recently featured in two world premieres: Luna Pearl Woolf’s Number Our Days at the Perelman Performing Arts Center and Benedict Sheehan’s oratorio Akathist, which was recorded alongside Trinity Choir, Artefact Ensemble, Trinity Youth Chorus, and NOVUS.
