His love is a gift to You
Your Son came to us
And he showed us how to love
He taught us to care for each other
To love people everywhere
He gave his life so that we all could live
Sing praise to the Son of God
Give us the power of Your love
Let us serve You Lord our God
Give us Your strength and Your wisdom
To be disciples for all time
Let us not forget Your teaching
Give love in the name of the Lord

So I decided to have a go at performing some of his works. They are in a style that I’ve not sung for over 20 years (evangelical church choir), but the old fervour still comes out in the performance: I was transported back to those good old days as I sang. It was a quiet night – When a glimpse of light slowly gazed Upon the sky. Awakening the sleeping souls – Joyfully singing – Dancing in the ray of light – And slowly it will descend again from its mighty throne.
Par une nuit paisible. Un léger rayon de lumière éveille les âmes dormantes. Les fait danser, chanter. Puis doucement, à nouveau, disparaît

Angels where You soar up to God’s own light, take my own lost bird on Your hearts tonight
and as grief once more mounts to heaven and sings,
let my love be heard whispering in Your wings.
"Ángeles, donde se elevan a la luz de Dios, tomen mi propio pájaro perdido en sus corazones esta noche y como el dolor una vez más se eleva al cielo y canta, que mi amor se oiga susurrando en sus alas"

Galaxias, composed by Santiago Veros, is a powerful new choral work exploring the metaphor of every person as a unique Star—together forming a vibrant human galaxy. This video features the world premiere of the SSAA version, performed live by the Accord Treble Choir under the direction of Elizabeth “Liz” Geisewite.
Galaxias (SATB) has quickly become one of the most-performed pieces in Veros’ catalog. The work celebrates connection, belonging, and the light we can share with each other, even across great distances.
Recorded in New York, this performance marks the debut of Galaxias for treble voices.

It is a complex layered poem exploring a multitude of interactions with the morning Star - in naturalistic, religious, spiritual and seemingly political terms.
Sincere thanks to Matthew Curtis (choraltracks.com) for recording "Stella."

I would like to acknowledge the a cappella choir that I sing in, The Stairwell Carollers, and our director Pierre Massie, for their musical inspiration these past 26 years.
I would also like to thank my friends in our "Ad hoc Chorale" for testing out this piece in one of our informal workshops and offering valuable comments.
And with deepest appreciation to my brother Adam Rain and my friend Geneviève Lajoie for their invaluable support throughout my composing journey. less
