The score is at once rhythmic and exciting, haunting and unsettling. It was a winner of the 2018 Uncommon Music Festival Composition Competition. It is accessible for all fine high school, collegiate and community choral ensembles. It is available through my website at http://cschurch.net/en/compositions/choir/o-magnum-mysterium/ and will be published by Carus-Verlag in July 2016. Program Note: It is difficult to follow with (yet) another setting of this famous text that has inspired so many composers over the centuries. In my attempt, “O magnum mysterium” returns three times after the first statement, in a similar gesture but each time shifted to a new tonality with even more flats. Thus, the listener gets ever more pulled into this magnificient text until the piece culminates in a jubilant “Alleluia” in C-major, having come full-circle back to very first harmony we heard. We aim to give two or three concerts each year, plus a Christmas concert of music and readings. We are based in the village of Rolleston-on-Dove near Burton-upon-Trent, and draw our members – numbering around 50 at present - from a wide area of East Staffordshire and South Derbyshire. At the wall's base the fiery nettle springs, With fruit globose and fierce with poison'd stings; In every chink delights the fern to grow, With glossy leaf and tawny bloom below: The few dull flowers that o'er the place are spread Partake the nature of their fenny bed. These, with our sea-weeds, rolling up and down, form the contracted flora of our town.  less

The limit of the chorister is maximum 35-37 per choir (including the conductor and the choir’s leader). The program of the choir ensemble must be on the category of CLASSICAL, POP, ROCK, JAZZ, or FOLK music. The choice of program it’s free without limit of the instruments that may accompany the choir ensemble. The duration of performance shall not exceed 20 minutes per performance. The choir ensembles may have tree performances during the Festival. The following application documents must be provided by the closing date June, 01.Accommodation shall be organized from the organizers in student hostels in Skopje. The participants shall be placed in rooms with 2 or 3 beds, breakfast is included. The accommodation for the participants is free  less

Herzlichen Glückwunsch Gospelchor Rejoice: Die 5. World choir Games Graz 2008 sind der größte Wettbewerb in der Geschichte der Chormusik. Es waren rund 441 Ensembles aus 93 Nationen dabei. Nach Graz waren auch die Sängerinnen und Sänger unseres Gospelchor...  moreHerzlichen Glückwunsch Gospelchor Rejoice: Die 5. World choir Games Graz 2008 sind der größte Wettbewerb in der Geschichte der Chormusik. Es waren rund 441 Ensembles aus 93 Nationen dabei. Nach Graz waren auch die Sängerinnen und Sänger unseres Gospelchores Rejoice mit ihrem Leiter, unserem Kirchenmusiker und Küster Roland Orthaus gefahren. Und sie siegten! Rejoice holte eine von nur 6 Silber-Medaillen, die an Deutschland vergeben wurden. Für Rejoice bedeutet das, dass sie "Deutscher Meister" und "Vize-Europameister" in der Kategorie „Gospel/Spiritual" geworden sind.  less
