We are dedicated to educating audiences of all ages in music from The Medieval period through The 21st century through high quality performances by its professional Vocal Ensemble, Kantorei Choral Ensemble. Kantorei is largely unconducted which provides a unique connection to The audience, creating an unusually intimate performance and audience experience. Chantage won The BBC Radio 3 Choir of The Year competition in 2006, recorded live with Elbow at Abbey Road Studios in 2009 and is frequently featured on Classic FM and BBC radio. Chantage performs a wide range of repertoire, programming works traditionally performed by English chamber choirs alongside lesser known works sourced from foreign choral cultures. Chantage was formed in 1999 by its Musical Director James Davey, and quickly established itself in London as a stylish and energetic young chamber choir. It draws singers from all over The country and from all walks of life. Strong commitment from its members has helped forge a growing reputation as an outstanding amateur choir with a national reputation. We are a ladies' a cappella chorus who sing in barbershop style. We are based in Aberdeenshire, in north-east Scotland. As well as Scottish favourites, our repertoire includes traditional barbershop as well as recent pop and rock tunes.
