The group rehearses August through November and January through April with concerts at the end of each session. The group is know for its variety in programming. Directed by Bruce Phelps, the goal of the ensemble is to provide a quality experience for Singers and audiences; explore new repertoire and sing music of the masters, and perform with utmost musical integrity through a collaborative and persistent effort by all participants.  less

Goal of ...  moreThe Youth Choir Melissanthi was founded as the Children’s Choir of Alexandria Municipality in 1987 aiming to the creation of a youth musical cradle in the town and so far has become a major attraction for children and young people of the city. Goal of the choir is equally the choral and music development of its members and the contribution to the cultural development of Alexandria and the surrounding area. Although it started as a small ensemble singing monophonic or at best diphone melodies without instrumental accompaniment, today has more than 80 choristers, mostly girls, 10-25 years old, and interprets as a triphonic choir almost all kinds of music, with an emphasis on the music of the nations and Greek composers. Udiana is unusual on the Israeli scene, has appeared on some of the best stages in the country, and is praised highly by the audiences. ...  more About the Choir The Udiana Choir (formerly, Kolot Hasadeh) was founded by Anat Aharoni at Kibbutz Harduf in 2004. Udiana is unusual on the Israeli scene, has appeared on some of the best stages in the country, and is praised highly by the audiences. The choir sings mainly a capella, with an emphasis on current music, and integrates improvisation, drumming, and movement. Udiana has been supported by the Ministry for Culture and Sport since 2012. We aim to express processes in human development, so we build our programs around subjects that we research from different angles, including “Prayer”, “Song of the Earth”, “Peace”, and “Water”. In 2016 we created a program called “Silence” in collaboration with the Israeli Brass Quintet. In 2017 the subject was “My Soul Returns to the Fire”, where we explored the quality of fire in our lives. EnChor began singing together in the fall of 2005. We are an auditioned group of approximately 32 Singers, coming from a broad cross section of the Calgary and area community. EnChor proudly highlights the work of Canadian artists, and includes Canadian content in every concert. An important part of our directive is to collaborate with fellow Calgary artists. During the COVID lockdown, SOS has been offering FREE virtual choirs to the entire world. We're currently (June 2020) in 80 countries and working with thousands of Singers each week.
