We have won every single competition we have taken part in so far and are looking to improve our game and become better at what we do. Having been friends and in The choral scene for twenty years, The two have been talking about a project like this for around fifteen years. Spurred by The release of The revised English missal, Alejandro and Eugene both thought it a good time to finally restart The project that They had shelved for some time. Only now, The idea wasn’t just to end with a single album; The idea was now to establish a ministry that would introduce a new generation of music to Philippine Catholics. We sing a variety of music which, in some cases, is arranged by Charles. We rehearse, with a break for chat and refreshment at St Leonards Primary School in Exeter on Wednesday evenings.  

We sing contemporary acappella: unaccompanied close harmony arrangements of jazz, pop, gospel and do-wap classics, including original arrangements by our members.

The group is made up of twenty-somethings (mostly!) who are young professionals living in London. Founded by singers and beatboxers from The likes of The International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella, Last Choir Standing and Britain's Got Talent favourites Out of The Blue, The group’s repertoire spans from Billy Joel to The Black Eyed Peas, via pop, jazz, barbershop, rap and original composition as They offer a programme of sumptuous jazz arrangements, genre jumping covers and assorted originals. Following a successful run at The Edinburgh Fringe, The Refrains enjoyed a sold-out London debut at The Forge, Camden.
