The Choir has over 50 members and fulfills about 20 engagements a year performing for a range of societies from small groups, churches to national bodies, and has toured extensively, in the U.K., Ireland, Europe and U.S.A. including a number of Choir exchange visits.

Spera means hope in Latin, and it is a members’ shared vision on music. All members studied a sacred choral music under Koji Oguchi, Choir director, when they were high school students. They were deeply touched by Oguchi’s music and established the Ensemble Choir SPERA. Making its debut in concert in March 2014 at Tokyo Opera City Recital Hall, SPERA’s music was highly prized and well-reviewed in newspapers. It serves in Masses and services and performs in concerts as an ecumenical Choir, composed of students from Kitasato University, International Christian University, Hitotsubashi University and Rikkyo University. In 2012, the birth...  moreFrom the desire of some now grown-up boys, coming from the most diverse singing experiences, the Priamo Gallisay Male Choir was born in 2007 which immediately characterized itself for an unusual repertoire in the Nuoro musical panorama. In 2012, the birth of the Priamo Gallisay Cultural Association completes the cultural path desired by the founders. The Corale has about 30 members among its ranks.

We as a Choir are proud to be mentioned in Under Milk Wood, when the question is asked, “How’s the Tenors in Dowlais” One of our favourite songs has to be the Rev Eli Jenkins’ Sunset Poem from Under Milk Wood. If you want to hear the “Tenors in Dowlais” please listen to this recording, done recently in our practice hall.
