Throughout its long history, the Choir has performed almost every major Choral work in the repertoire. The Halifax Choral Society has always aimed high and has traditionally performed with first-rate orchestras, soloists and conductors. Looking through the annals of the Society is to turn back the pages of musical history of the past two centuries.

We have fun as we build friendships with singers from many Schools, sing a wide variety of music and bring joy to the community. We are ideal for singers who want more singing in their life! We are proud of our alumni singing at NOVA, NYU, JMU, UNT, Bridgewater, Longwood & Westchester.

It is the choir's mission since its existence to captivate audiences with versatile and enjoyable singing which is passionately presented by each member. The choir consists of 58 learners, under direction of Stefan Buys and accompanied by Brigitte Botha.  

Valentine Singers have gained a reputation for high quality performances with a welcoming atmosphere, both locally and further afield. Our repertoire embraces operatic and lighter music alongside classical Choral works, with orchestra, from Bach to Bernstein, and a wide range of a cappella repertoire, which we have also toured abroad. Our second CD was released in November 2009. A friendly choir of 60-70 singers, we give four main local concerts a year and enjoy touring. Since 2002, our concert tours have included Lake Garda, Venice, Umbria, Tuscany, Kraków, Amiens and Ghent. In the UK we have performed at the London Coliseum (2006), Ely Cathedral (2007), the Southbank Centre (2010) and Winchester Cathedral (2011).  less
