Every year Dziesmuvara takes part in international or national choral competitions. Since 2013 the choir has travelled to Poland, Lithuania, France and Czech Republic and all around Latvia.
Dziesmuvara also participates in the Latvian Song Celebration festivals and occasionally teams up with fellow university and youth choirs to sing together in concerts. The more, the merrier!

The choir, which has a membership of around 30 voices, was formed in 2007 by its Musical Director, Sheila Farmer. A Cappella is a touring choir, having visited Prague and France, and hoping to make a tour to Spain in the near future. The choir rehearses every other Saturday morning, between 10 a.m. and noon.

Members of the choir also run a training choir to train other choirs to perform Gospel music. The small training choir is able to travel anywhere. To date they have travelled to Cornwall, devon, derbyshire, Wales, France and Germany. The whole choir is mixed, with approximately 50 singers and performs around 30 times a year. The choir has raised over £63,000 for charity over their time together.

Since then, the ACS has established itself as a formidable presence in the Philippine musical landscape. Their unique specialization in sacred choral music has opened a richly eclectic mix of European, American and Asian choral literature that spans medieval to postmodern periods, traditional to contemporary styles, complex art music to highly-textured indigenous music, and moving sprituals to psalmody hewn out of traditional Asian musics.
In 2006, the ACS made their mark abroad with Awit: The First ACS European Tour, representing the Philippines in two important choral events: the Polyfollia in France, a biennial international choral festival at Saint-Lo in La Manche, and the 38th Tolosa Choral Contest in Spain where they emerged as first prize winners in the polyphon... less
