ALERON, being an all-male ensemble, is geared towards exploring The male Choral soundscape. Through innovative programming and The performance of repertoire across musical styles and genres, The group aims to deliver to its audiences a diverse and unique Choral experience. ALERON envisions to broaden The all-male Choral genre by continuously premiering new works of select resident composers and arrangers throughout its Concert seasons. Audio recording by Matt Curtis (Choral Tracks). Jeff Brechlin won The Washington Post's Style Invitational in March 2003 with his poem The Hokey Poke. The competition asked readers to rewrite some banal instructions in The stvle of a famous writer. Brechlin chose to rewrite one verse of The traditional dance song The Hokey Pokey as if written by William Shakespeare, for which he won The prize of a shotgun shell salt and pepper shaker. Following The move in 1983 into The West End of Glasgow The Choir was renamed Glasgow Lyric Choir. ​ Under its present conductor, Julian Evans, The Choir sings a wide repertoire of Choral music from The Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods and traditional Scots and Gaelic songs. We are a mixed voice Choir numbering around 30 at present. ​ We gave two Concerts in Glasgow during The 2017-2018 season: in December we presented a Christmas programme and in June we gave a Concert featuring a selection of music from The movies. However, in April we also gave two Concerts in Italy, The first in Barga (including a Vivaldi Credo and Scottish songs) and The second in Milan where we joined forces with Canti Corum to sing Dvorak’s Mass in D. ​ Choir members enjoy many social as well as musical events togeTher.
