In the beginning, Greenwood Singers specialized in the performance of a cappella music from different stylistic periods. Its programming has now expanded to include works with soloists, instrumental Ensembles and chamber orchestra. A versatile Ensemble, the Choir has performed frequently with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra in a wide variety of programs which have included Mahler’s Symphony No. 8, Holst’s The Planets, family Christmas concerts, the concert version of Jerome Kern’s Showboat, Orff’s Carmina Burana (with the Alberta Ballet) and the ESO’s 1992 reunion with the British rock group, Procol Harum. With styles ranging from pop to gospel, we're sure there's something to suit your taste. Come and join us on Tuesday evenings at the University of Chichester, where we rehearse. We aim to give two/three concerts a year – we hope you can be in the next one! We are a group of ladies with ages ranging from early 20s to 50s. We usually run around the school holidays as we have a few mums but can run in the holidays as well if enough people are available. We charge per half term which works out at £5.50 a week when you commit to the whole half term. Please contact us if you would like to come so we can let you know which room we will be in.  less

Our ethos: CONTEXT Historical, social and environmental contexts of music, and the influence of these on performance, will be central to rehearsals and concerts. They will define the themes of our repertoire each year. COLLABORATION Based in Leeds, the Choir has numerous opportunities to collaborate with other Ensembles, composers and charities to promote and support musicians throughout the North. They act as ambassadors for the Community School of Music and Arts to reach the broader community through performance and share their love of music.

Hailing from places as far afield as Truro and Coverack and ranging in age from thirty-something to eighty-something they unite once a week in Penryn to indulge and nurture their love of singing. The women of Mabe Ladies Choir take their music making very seriously, constantly striving to achieve the highest artistic and technical standards. That said, they do spend an inordinate amount of time laughing! Whether it’s in the rehearsal room or the concert hall the emphasis is on fun & enjoyment, for Choir and audience alike.
