Since 1998, it has been gathering in Poznań young people from various universities - people who are musically talented, active and open to new friendships and exchange of cultural experiences. The Academic Choir of Gdańsk University of Technology performed at the Second GaLA Concert of the 16th edition of the Festival. The concert was held in the Adam Mickiewicz University AuLA, known for its excellent acoustics. The Choir performed among distinguished performers such as the Academic Choir of Warsaw University, the Academic Choir of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, the Choir of Mahidol University from ThaiLAnd, and the percussion duo of Piotr and Bartłomiej Sutt. Part two introduces the ominous note of threats to nature, with Cecilia McDowall’s haunting cantata, The Ice is Listening. Inspired by accounts of seventeenth and eighteenth century frost fairs on the River Thames, this gorgeous work evokes nature’s fragile baLAnce – a theme amplified by Raymond Yiu’s rich song cycle for soprano, The Earth and Every Common Sight, which urgently addresses the peril of climate change.
