Director, Pierre Massie, has composed many original pieces for the choir, as well as creating lively and contemporary arrangements of traditional carols. The release of their first CD Qui creavit celum, celebrated the Stairwell Carollers' 20th anniversary in 1997. In 2000 they released I Saw a Swete Semly Syght and in 2003 Mourning Dove. Their very first madrigal CD, Audite nova, was released in October of 2006 and their fourth Xmas CD Laudemus cum armonia in 2009. 2012 marked the release of their first CD of sacred songs from the Renaissance, Cantate Domino, Their fifth Xmas CD O magnum mysterium is now available for purchase. Winner of the 2010 OMFA provincial competition, they are ranked amongst the best of Canada's choirs. We have taken part in many choral competitions around Ireland with Success in New Ross, Arklow, Navan, Sligo and Cork. In 2013 we joined Wide Open Music in a performance of Beethoven's 9th Symphony, which was received with great enthusiasm. In the same year we also joined Opera Theatre Company for two performances in their tour to promote young Irish soloists. In recognition of the millennium year and augmented by local choirs from around the country, we performed the Verdi Requiem to great acclaim in both Bray and Arklow. From its beginning it has been affiliated with ZAMEK Culture Centre. Experienced and respected pedagogues-musicians look after the musical development of the girls and artistic program. The Choir is conducted and creatively inspired by its Artistic Director and Conductor Alicja Szeluga, an educator and choral music aficionado. The Vocal Coach Marzena Michałowska, and accompanying pianist Czesław Łynsza, as well as percussionist Beata Polak complete the musical team. The SKOWRONKI Girls Choir also has programs for younger groups. The ensemble is consists of 140 girls aged between 6 and 22. The Singers of the choir are secondary School students as well as students from universities of Poznań. The group’s repertoire rediscovers and promotes works of various composers from different periods as well as performs pieces commissioned especially for the choir.
