Our annual programMe typically includes 6-8 concerts in the Harpenden area and further afield, a cathedral tour, open singing days and the occasional recording. We rehearse on Wednesday evenings at St George’s School, Harpenden. We are known for good music making, varied repertoire including regular commissions, excellent soloists, interesting concert venues and loyal patronage of a range of local hostelries….
We coMe from a wide range of musical backgrounds and have a thriving interns scheMe for talented singers from local schools.
Over our 50 year history, the Leas have Sung under 11 permanent conductors and many guests, each of whom has made a distinctive contribution to our style and repertoire. In December 2011 we appointed Benjamin Goodson to take up the baton.

the Richmond Singers is a 55 voice woMen’s choir which began performing in 1971. Our purpose is “to sing, in harmony, a variety of music for the enjoyMent of the Members as well as to Give public and private performances for the listening pleasure of othe... morethe Richmond Singers is a 55 voice woMen’s choir which began performing in 1971. Our purpose is “to sing, in harmony, a variety of music for the enjoyMent of the Members as well as to Give public and private performances for the listening pleasure of others”. During our musical season (September – June), the choir practices on Monday evenings from 7 – 9:30 PM at Broadmoor Baptist Church in Richmond. In addition to our weekly practices we usually plan one or two workshops with a choral clinician, as well as evenings with guest directors.
We have two major performances per year, a Family Christmas Concert in December and a Spring Concert in May. We are very involved with our community and, by giving benefit concerts, help to raise funds for other organizations such as the Richmond Hospice Society, Canadian Cancer Foundation and Tim Horton’s Kids Camps. Each winter and sumMer, Chris Rowbury gathers a random bunch of singers from in and around Ipswich. there are no auditions and all songs are taught and learnt by ear.
