In its 30 year history, the Choir has sung in the most prestigious venues, not only in the UK but also all over Europe, forming strong bonds of friendship with several Choirs from overseas. The Choir continues to grow in strength and has won awards for contributions to choral music and Cornish culture.

A community-friendly Choir where no previous music experience is needed to be a part of. All you need to do is come with a smile and a passion for singing. No auditions are required and your first two weeks are on us.  

The Choir is formed of around 120 adult members from all walks of life and age ranges. The Musical Director has, since 2013, been Dominic Ellis-Peckham. We foster a friendly and supportive environment, and have regular social activities. We're relaxed bu...  moreThe Choir is formed of around 120 adult members from all walks of life and age ranges. The Musical Director has, since 2013, been Dominic Ellis-Peckham. We foster a friendly and supportive environment, and have regular social activities. We're relaxed but focused when it comes to pursuing musical excellence and have a keen shared purpose in developing our individual vocal skills, and pushing ourselves with new and challenging repertoire from across the centuries and genres. Each season the Choir usually promotes around six concerts in London in venues such as St James's Piccadilly and St Paul's Covent Garden, and organises two weekend tours - one in the UK, and one overseas (recent destinations include Paris, Porto and Rome); and we regularly receive external bookings.​ Past engagements have included with Pete Townshend and Alfie Boe for 'Classic Quadrophenia' at the Royal Albert Hall, and with Madonna for the Eurovision Song Contest Final in Tel Aviv.  less

The Choir has a wide-ranging repertoire – from traditional sacred music to modern, contemporary compositions, popular arrangements and music from around the world. They perform regular concerts in London and the South East, as well as touring each year, with recent trips including Italy, Slovenia, Croatia and Greece. In 2025 the Choir celebrated their 10th Birthday year, and the 25th anniversary of the founding of Northern Spirit Singers. Rehearsing monthly in central London, Southern Spirit Singers aim to perform the very highest standards of choral music in a relaxed and fun environment. In 2019 the Choir returned with four gold medals from the European Choir Games in Gothenburg.
