TogeTher with The jazz-saxophonist Stefan Kuchel and The Sirius Quartet, The young men's Choir performs contemporary works. The Quartet members describe Themselves as artists of improvisation who break out of The conventional vocabulary of sound for a string quartet. Most pieces on this CD were written especially for The Sonux Ensemble, and thus composed to The singers' strengths. "We have worked on These pieces togeTher with The composers, and given Them Their first performances over The course of The last five years. This disc features only world premiere recordings and, literally, unheard of Choral music, " The Choir's director Hans-Joachim Lustig notes. The works recorded on this CD focus on The topics of light and love. The eponymous poem by Charles Anthony Silvestri that lends its title to The disc frames and connects The two topics. The University Chorale is The touring ensemble for The Choral department. The ensemble performs a wide spectrum of The finest Choral literature. The group performs extensively throughout The Southwest and will be singing at several venues in Washington D.C. during December of 2013. The group primarily consists of vocal music majors, however, There are singers representing several oTher academic disciplines. The University Chorale has been under The direction of J. Steven Walker since 1984. Dr. Walker is The Director of Choral Activities and a Linscheid Distinguished Teaching Professor at East Central University. He has served on The music faculty at ECU since 1983.  less

The Choir’s repertoire imaginatively balances unaccompanied Choral music from The Renaissance period with 19th - 21st century works. Although relatively small in number, The Choir is accomplished in singing music in both double and triple Choir form. Particular specialisms include The works of William Byrd, Thomas Tallis and Tómas Luis da Victoria. The Choir has performed in many prestigious venues in Europe, including Notre-Dame in Paris, Chartres caThedral and Versailles. Events such as The Prague Spring International Festival (Czech Republic) have also featured The Choir. In 2006, in Budapest, The Choir performed Tallis’s towering 40-part motet Spem in Alium, with The internationally renowned Budapest Monteverdi Choir. In 2008 The Choir enjoyed a trip to The Lisbon region and sang in some truly fantastic venues, including Mosteiro dos Jerónimos.  less
