Since then the Choir has been not only one of the best Choirs in it`s home country Latvia but also recognized and awarded in many international Choir contests. The Choir has participated in countless international Choir festivals and performed abroad, for example, in Portugal, Japan, Canada, United States of America and many more. Founder of the Choir was Mefodijs Skuja but the greatest achievments DZINTARS succeeded with perennial conductor Ausma Derkēvica. Since 2000 the conductor and Artistic Director is Aira Birziņa, chief conductor of The Nationwide Song Festival in Latvia, Professor of Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, organizator of innumerable cultural projects and author of the concepts of many projects for avocational Choirs. We train together in vocal and choral skills as part of every session and want to explore our own sound as well as that of our Choir's. We have a strong Folk influence and a variety of pieces that keep us challenged and growing. Directed and trained by singing teacher and Choir coach Sandra Smith (www.singingandbreathing.co.uk) Throughout the pandemic we kept singing and did a short but very fun Homegrown Harmony project where all singers participated in a small group piece or a solo and recorded it. We bring you classical repertoires as well as delightful Norwegian folk songs. The Nidaros Cathedral Boys’ Choir has over 900 years of rich history. It’s the main Choir of Nidaros Cathedral which is located in the ancient capital of Trondheim, Norway. It’s also the main Choir of Royal events. The Choir will celebrate its 100 years of modern history in 2027 with a global tour. Current artistic director and conductor, Bjørn Moe - a former soprano in the Choir, successfully reinvented the Choir since joining as conductor in 1973. There are 100 members in the main Choir, 70 sopranos/altos (9-15 years old) and 30 tenors/basses (15-68 years old). In addition, the mini-boys Choir, has 40 boys ages 7-9.
