Since 2008 the St. Lawrence Choir has been under the direction of Michael Zaugg. The Swiss-born Musician has distinguished himself as an innovative and versatile conductor on the Canadian choral scene. Active as artistic director, guest conductor, pedagogue and clinician, Michael Zaugg brings a wealth of experience and creativity to his work.
St. Lawrence Choir was formed in 1972 by Iwan Edwards and a group of singers residing in the West Island of Montreal. Concerts were presented in Lachine until 1983 when the Choir relocated to downtown Montreal. Our repertoire contains International Music, but especially Arabic songs from different heritages (Lebanese, Palestinian, Egyptian, Iraqi, Syrian, Mouashah...). and for the first time, we have Arabic songs arranged with quarter tones. Our aim is to show the real civilized image of the Arab world and to spread our rich Music.

The Leipzig Synagogal Choir sees its goal in the preservation of synagogue Music (a. o. by Salomon Sulzer, Louis Lewandowski, Samuel Alman, Samuel Lampel, Abraham Dunajewski, David Nowakowski, Samuel Naumbourg, Salomone Rossi) as well as of Yiddish and He... moreThe Leipzig Synagogal Choir sees its goal in the preservation of synagogue Music (a. o. by Salomon Sulzer, Louis Lewandowski, Samuel Alman, Samuel Lampel, Abraham Dunajewski, David Nowakowski, Samuel Naumbourg, Salomone Rossi) as well as of Yiddish and Hebrew folk songs by performing the compositions in free arrangements. The wide-ranging repertoire enables flexible programming for venues – large and small concert halls, churches or synagogues – and appropriate occasions. The ensemble, which consists of singers of non-Jewish origin, celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2012.
