The Choir is made up of 25 members from a variety of professional backgrounds, including teachers, scientists, clerics, accountants, carpenters, and engineers. The Choir's repertoire consists mainly of choral works from the renaissance and 20th century, as well as contemporary pieces in Hungarian, English, Latin, Italian, French, and German. The Gesualdo Choir has earned several national and international awards, winning top ratings in Hungary as well as 2nd and 3rd place prizes at the prestigious Tonen Choir competition in the Netherlands. The Choir performs 15 times each year within Hungary, and continually seeks opportunities to spread the beauty of the Hungarian choral tradition abroad. We are dedicated to quality performances, music education, and community service. As the resident choral ensemble of the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts, we perform a varied repertoire from classics to Broadway and rock to jazz in two main concerts, one during the Christmas season and one in the spring, with additional benefit and collaborative performances throughout the year. Scheduled auditions for new members are held in August and January of each year. Our mission is to enhance the cultural and musical life of the community and to provide an opportunity for those interested in choral music to participate in these musical endeavors.
