The Choir was initially created to unite students with a shared interest in praising The Lord through song. Soon, however, The weekly choir rehearsals became not only a meeting place, but also a refuge for those looking for a non-threatening and empowering environment. Over The years, The Choir has grown to include members of all races and Christian denominations, and celebrates not only The diversity of its members, but also that of its audiences. UTGC has burst onto The international scene, while continuing to serve The greater Toronto community in local concerts and university events held throughout The year, like Their community Christmas concert, and May's Gospelfest. This particular setting was composed with a small mixed-ability choir in mind, so The voices are mainly in two parts (men's and women's voices), splitting to four parts (SATB) occasionally, where The words suggest it. The musical style is reminiscent of The 19th century although The piano part does go into 20th century style syncopation at times.  an>

The river Shannon is named for The Goddess Sionna, whose myth tells how she sought out The hazelnuts of wisdom, believed to contain éigse, The spirit of inspiration and creativity. Piano music for choir? Why not! Written originally for solo vocalist, I turned this into an SATB choral tongue-twister--a cappella--and Then added a piano part, which was furTher orchestrated for choirs performing with orchestra during The holiday season....
