Founded by a group of choral music lovers in 2002, KCC has leaded the choral music community to an unceasingly advancement in southern Taiwan. KCC performs a vast selection of local and international repertoires, female or male choral work, a cappella pieces, contemporary chamber Choir music, and newly commissioned compositions in its semi annual concerts and other occasions. KCC’s active presence on stages has brought several acclaimed rewards from private and public offices. Under the leadership of the current Artistic Director, Dr. Chia-fen Weng, KCC launched the Elite Workshop to further expand the Choir’s caliber in 2007. This program recruited a few young talented singers to act as voice teachers in the Choir, such as Hua-chen Liang, Je-jium Chan and Ying-jen Yao, and offers music theory, body movement and dancing lessons to its members as part of this Elite Workshop program. The collective was organized in 1939 in Belostok, its first program was prepared in 1941. Now the staff of the Choir consists of gifted musicians who serve selflessly to the Great Art. With the addition of Richard Larson as artistic director and a handful of additional singers, the group quickly found a footing in the cultural fabric of Denver, Colorado. Now entering its 15th full season of performing, the group has expanded into an auditioned ensemble of 54 volunteer singers who meet weekly to rehearse. Many of the singers come from schools with strong choral music programs, such as Augustana, Brigham Young, Concordia, Luther, St. Olaf, Wartburg, and the University of Northern Colorado. Kantorei established itself as one of the nation’s premier choral ensembles after performing as an auditioned Choir for the 2003 National American Choral Directors Association Conference at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
