Also winning ...  moreIn the World Choir Championships which was held in Graz, Austria between 10th-17th July 2011, Boğaziçi Jazz Choir became the 'WORLD CHAMPION' in Contemporary Music and Folklore categories, and got the 'second prize' in Mixed choirs category. Also winning 2 more gold medals in 'Grand Prix of Choral Music' the champions competed in, the choir has come back to Turkey with a total of 5 gold medals. NDV, whose concerts range in style and period from the medieval to the contemporary, takes special pleasure in exploring the music of living composers and has given many Irish premières –including James Macmillan’s Cantos Sagrados and Penderecki’s Stabat Mater – as well as eight world premières of works by Irish composers including Linda Buckley, Enda Bates, Jonathan Nangle, Garrett Sholdice, and Ian Wilson. As well as giving concerts, NDV is a regular participant in competitions, both internationally and at home in Ireland.
