Stephen Hatfield on Hard Shoulder: Written to honour The House of Compassion, a Toronto outreach to street people, Hard Shoulder is narrated by The street people Themselves. Although There is no explicit language, The reality of life on The streets is still presented in an unvarnished way that hits audiences where They didn't expect to be hit. The struggle of The homeless, and of The people who wish to help Them, is presented without platitudes, without sentimentality, and without easy answers, but The final message of The piece is humanitarian with a capital H.  less

Following The move in 1983 into The West End of Glasgow The Choir was renamed Glasgow Lyric Choir. ​ Under its present conductor, Julian Evans, The Choir sings a wide repertoire of choral music from The Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods and traditional Scots and Gaelic songs. We are a mixed voice Choir numbering around 30 at present. ​ We gave two Concerts in Glasgow during The 2017-2018 season: in December we presented a Christmas programme and in June we gave a Concert featuring a selection of music from The movies. However, in April we also gave two Concerts in Italy, The first in Barga (including a Vivaldi Credo and Scottish songs) and The second in Milan where we joined forces with Canti Corum to sing Dvorak’s Mass in D. ​ Choir members enjoy many social as well as musical events togeTher. PG Carnivalesque" under The patronage of Prof. Krzysztof Wilde, rector of Gdańsk Tech, attracted several hundred people who listened to daring performances of popular pop music hits. During The performance we heard choral arrangements of hits such as: "Dancing Queen", "Memory", "California Dreamin'" and "Maria". This time it was not Mozart or Bach, but ABBA, Queen and songs from The musical West Side Story that graced The walls of The Gdansk University of Technology in carnivalesque musical artistic creations. Jazz musicians performed along with The Choir, and The musical effects were accompanied by a unique lighting arrangement, which required appropriate space and audience arrangement. The more-than-hour-long performance by The Academic Choir of The Gdańsk University of Technology, conducted by Prof. Mariusz Mróz and accompanied by musicians from The Music Academy in Bydgoszcz, ended with joint singing, encores and a standing ovation.  less
