VCS has been awarded the Canada Council’s top prize in Choral singing, the Healey Willan Grand Prize, more than any other choir in the country. Members saw the need for a name which reflected their distinctive sound and musical objectives. They chose Voyces – a uniting image, powerful in its simplicity, a word with a bit of a twist, reflecting the eclectic and often unusual repertoire of the choir. In using the archaic spelling – ‘Voyces’ – the choir acknowledges thousands of years of rich Choral tradition whilst establishing itself in the 21st century Choral landscape. The choir is fast making a name for itself premiering works never before heard in Perth or in fact the world. Voyces seeks to be an interactive and involved performing group in the local WA and wider Australian musical community. As a strong supporter of emerging young composers and Australian composers, Voyces showcases their works on a regular basis.  less

The Choir has held concerts in many cities of Greece and abroad, and made a special appearance in Cuba, where it performed a concert in the Cathedral of St. Francis of Assisi, in Havana, invited by the Cuban Ministry of Culture. The two concerts with the popular oratorio "AXION ESTI" of Mikis Theodorakis at Thessaloniki Palais des Sports and the "CARMINA BURANA" at Thessaloniki Concert Hall, performed in collaboration with Thessaloniki’s State Symphony Orchestra (under the Cultural Olympiad), are the Choir’s most important moments until now.
