The forty boys of The Choir are educated at Westminster Under School, part of London’s historic Westminster School, established before 1179 as a monastic school of The Benedictine Abbey of St Peter. In 1560 The school was re-founded by Queen Elizabeth I for boys to be “liberally instructed in good books to The greater honour of The state.” Ever since, The school’s history has been intertwined with The momentous state events and political turmoils of The capital. Old Westminsters dominated Parliament for most of The eighteenth century and The output of leading politicians, statesmen and soldiers has continued to this day. The school’s contribution to literature, philosophy and The arts has been immense, from such alumni as Ben Jonson, John Dryden, Henry Purcell and Christopher Wren to A.A. Milne, Adrian Boult, John Gielgud and Peter Ustinov, from Andrew Lloyd-Webber and Stephen Poliakoff to Julian Anderson, Ian Bostridge, Helena B...    less

Last July, over 100 BIG Sing members flash mobbed The Maldon Tesco Store and The YouTube video has had over 16,000 views, raising money for Cancer Research UK. As well as community events, The BIG Sing have hosted Their own sold out shows in Essex and have many more coming up this year! As The BIG Sing grows we are continuing to reach out to more people of all ages and backgrounds. We aim to unite people with uplifting music and have seen The Choir members grow in confidence, experience The thrill of performing on stage, make new friends and belong to a new Choir family. We specialise in performing hit songs mainly from The 1980s as you've never heard Them before. Why? Because The majority of our songs are arranged specially for us by our ridiculously talented in house music team. We perform all over London in clubs and pubs and can be relied upon to bring a sparkle to any occasion, as Musical Director Kat Yates explains: "In KiS (as we're known to our friends) we've really put The emphasis on fun - and our audiences relate to this. In addition we have a choral scholarship programme for music students. We are led by Jonathan Wikeley, our Director of Music and Assistant Organist, Emma Howarth. We sing 3 out of 4 Sundays at All Saints Church Fulham at both The 9:30am Sung Eucharist and 6pm Choral Evensong. We have weekly rehearsals on Wednesdays at 8pm. We always welcome new members. Membership is open to anyone with or without choral experience. We aim for high standards, and of course strong singers are always valued – but you don’t have to be able to read music, and There are no auditions. The age range of members stem from 20 to over 70 so There is room for everyone. If you’re not sure which voice part you are Then Christopher Wray, our Musical Director, can help you with this. The Choir performs three public concerts each year, at Easter, in The Summer and at Christmas. We also support The local communities by singing at various events and this includes raising funds for charities. Each year we also sing away from London which combines singing to anoTher community, or combining a performance with Their Choir, with a fun day out.
