Les Chantres Musiciens’ repertoire is both varied and complex, comprising a range of works from the Romantic period (including Mendelssohn, Schubert, Schumann, and Brahms) to Post-Romantic and modern compositions (including, for example, Schafer, Reger, Schönberg, and Langlais). The ensemble has earned a reputation for excellence, confirmed by prizes at national and international competitions, tours, and several distinguished recordings. Their first tour brought them through Germany and France, garnering critical and public acclaim, particularly at the Festival de Musique de Moselle. In 2007, the choir participated in the International Men’s Voice Festival in Pleyben. It was recorded on 5th December 2010 in the Harvey Nichols Espresso Bar in Leeds' magnificent Victoria Quarter in the first of St Peter's Singers' now-traditional Sunday evening carol performances there. The choir is directed by Dr Simon Lindley, its Music Director since the Singers' formation in June 1977. The choir is directed on this occasion by its regular accompanist David Houlder, Sub-Organist of Leeds Parish Church. The Music Director of St Peter's Singers is Dr Simon Lindley, Organist of Leeds Parish Church and Leeds City Organist, who has held this post since the choir's formation in 1977.
