We welcom...  moreThe J Singers combine singing ‘seriously for pleasure’ with performing charity fund-raising concerts throughout the county of Somerset. We sing a varied mix of music from traditional ballads and songs from the West End shows, to popular numbers. We welcome new adult members with or without prior choral experience. You do need some musical ability, but it's not essential to read music. Rehearsals are in Wembdon, near Bridgwater, on a Tuesday evening.

It focuses mainly on contemporary Icelandic music, commissioning at least one major work annually. Hljómeyki has represented Iceland in choral competitions and festivals, and has published 5 CD’s with Icelandic music. In recent years it has frequently collaborated with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. Other recent projects include Schnittke’s Concerto for Choir and Rachmaninov’s Vespers. This composition, based on the melody of Gregorian chant was created for annual christmas concert tour by Saint Nicholas Choir from Litija. I am proud to be the part of this wonderful choir which can always make my compositions breath with textbook example interpretations!  less
