Their diverse repertoire ranges from Mozart and Rutt...  moreAmicantus Choir is a group of good friends and very talented musicians based in Stratford Upon Avon, Warwickshire under the leadership of one of the Midlands leading Musical Directors, Miss Maddy Evans. Their diverse repertoire ranges from Mozart and Rutter to Take That and Snow Patrol with a good dose of musicals and Disney thrown in for good measure. The seeds of the Choir were first planted back in mid-2012 when Maddy was asked to set up a Choir to perform a small concert at her local church near to Stratford Upon Avon. The Choir are all good friends and met in a variety of ways from other Choirs, bands and performing arts groups. Since their first concert, they have grown to become one of the best and most revered Choirs in the Midlands and have performed at countless venues from the Birmingham German Christmas Markets to Shakespeare’s Birthday Celebrations in Stratford Upon Avon to their very first concert in Warwick in June 2013. Recorded live on Sunday, May 5, 2013, at All Saints Episcopal Church in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Performed by the Lyric Choir Ensemble of the Girl Choir of South Florida. Artistic Director: Wallis Peterson, Accompanist: Susan Dodd. Leonard Bernstein was on his honeymoon in 1951 when he began composing his one-act opera "Trouble in Tahiti", a candid portrait of the troubled marriage of a young suburban couple. This aria is sung by Dinah during Scene 3 where, in her analyst's office, she is seeking counseling - unbeknownst to her husband Sam - in an attempt to repair their deteriorating marriage. Dinah recalls a dream of an untended garden choked with weeds. In the dream she hears a voice calling to her describing a beautiful garden, a place of love and harmony, which she tries desperately to find. Her dream ends before she can find it.  less
