To date they have given over 1500 local youngsters vocal coaching and experience of professional-standard live performance. WYV is run by a team of experienced volunteers who give their time freely to be able to pass this experience on - the team consists of two primary school teachers, two doctors and a critical care nurse! Warwickshire Young Voices provide high quality musical activities for children from age 2 to age 16 through a range of classes, Choirs and workshops. In all activities, Warwickshire Young Voices prides itself on professionalism - with performances reaching the highest standards. We perform for many organizations in and around the Western Pennsylvania area. Anyone wishing to sing is welcome and invited to come to a rehearsal prior to committing to the group. No auditions are necessary. We also sing in a yearly competition called Saengerfest held in June each year. Members chorus' are: Altoona, Williamsport, Reading, Lebanon and Mon Yough. Each chorus hosts the competition on a rotating basis. Rehearsals are held each Sunday at Sampsons MIlls Presbyterian Church at 1665 Lincoln Way in White Oak, PA 15131 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The Mon Yough Chorale was formerly known as the Mon Yough Community Singers. The Mon Yough Chorale has a long history in the Mon Valley. The organization started as The McKeesport Choraliers in 1962 merging with the White Oak Community Singers in 2001 becoming the Mon Yough Community Singers. Along side intensive voice training, drama instruction, theory and ...  moreThe Grande Prairie Boys’ Choir is celebrating its seventeenth season, providing audiences at home and away with the gift of song from the hearts of 135 boys between the ages of 7 and 20. Along side intensive voice training, drama instruction, theory and sight reading in several smaller ensembles for several age categories, the choir produces 6 sold out concerts per year. Their most recent ambitions include producing a Symphony and Singing in the City concert with professional orchestral musicians mentoring local professional and semiprofessional performers from Grande Prairie. The Senior and Men of Note Choirs have travelled Nationally to BC, and ON and internationally to Phoenix, Arizona. In 2014, they entered and won second place in the Canadian National Music Festival and in 2016 were chosen out of 45 Choirs to perform at the National Choral Conference in Edmonton where they premiered a choral piece Magnificat Anima Mea to huge acceptance. We have a great musical director, immensely skilled and fun to sing for. Every rehearsal gives us something to discover about the music of all kinds of different styles, how to sing, communication with the audience , keeping time, tuning, rhythm etc. The choir works with musically trained people and singers entirely new to singing; some read music and some not. We give great concerts, sometimes of classics such as Elijah (Nov 2012), madrigals, anthems, and lighter music such as the delightful Noah and his Floating Zoo. Like all Choirs however we need more singers to keep the choir progressing. We are therefore expanding the ways we reach out to people who might like to give singing a try, or who would like to return to singing after a break, perhaps to have a family or because of a house move. Also winning ...  moreIn the World Choir Championships which was held in Graz, Austria between 10th-17th July 2011, Boğaziçi Jazz Choir became the 'WORLD CHAMPION' in Contemporary Music and Folklore categories, and got the 'second prize' in Mixed Choirs category. Also winning 2 more gold medals in 'Grand Prix of Choral Music' the champions competed in, the choir has come back to Turkey with a total of 5 gold medals.
