Audio recording by Matt Curtis (Choral Tracks). Jeff Brechlin won The Washington Post's Style Invitational in March 2003 with his poem The Hokey Poke. The competition asked readers to rewrite some banal instructions in the stvle of a famous writer. Brechlin chose to rewrite one verse of the traditional dance song The Hokey Pokey as if written by William Shakespeare, for which he won the prize of a shotgun shell salt and pepper shaker. The Choir consists of participants in workshop weeks, which are offered twice a year in different European countries. Overtone singing is a new vocal technique that allows for singing two tones simultaneously. EOC sings compositions with written overtones as well as Choir improvisations and contemporary music. The effect of controlled overtones on the timbre of classical Choir compositions is explored with special ear training.

In mid-April, 2011, Ola spent 3 days on the Central Washington University Campus for a project in which he joined the Choir in recording 3 of his compositions. On this video, Gjeilo adds an improvised accompaniment (in a one-take rendition) to his setting of the Ubi Caritas text -- which is published as an unaccompanied piece. Because of his view that improvising is a wonderful snapshot of artists "at that moment", the project was entitled "In the Moment".  less
