We Annually we p...  Display='';$(this).getParent().style.Display='none';">moreDisplay:none;">Carlow Choral Society Carlow Choral Society is a mixed-voice choir of over 60 members (SATB) Directed by Blánaid Murphy, Musical Director of the Palestrina Choir, St. Mary’s ProCathedral Girls Choir, Dublin Bach Singers and RIAM Choir. We Annually we perform two large concerts with professional soloists and orchestral musicians in Carlow, ‘Glory of Christmas’ in the National Concert Hall and annual ‘Christmas Crackers’ family concert in the George Bernard Shaw Theatre, Carlow. We have a remarkable repertoire of many choral works such as Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s St. Mathews & St. John Passion, VerDi’s Requiem, Haydn’s The Creation & Seasons, Brahm’s Requiem & many more. We sing at home & abroad. In November 2011 the choir recorded a Christmas CD. New members are welcome. We rehearse in St. Patrick’s College, Carlow Monday nights from 7.45-10pM. Among the many figures carved on meDieval cathedrals, one may find examples of foliate heads—a figure in which leafy foliage sprouts and elaborately ornaments a frieze, façade, or column. This figure is known as "The Green Man" and was mainly a northern European and Celtic symbol of the regeneration of life, a symbol of May, and the return of spring.
