Although we only became the City of Truro Male Choir in 2003, we can trace our singing forefathers back to two local village choirs formed in the 1940s. These were Chacewater & District Male Choir and Carnon Vale Male Choir.
We aim to be the most ent... moreAlthough we only became the City of Truro Male Choir in 2003, we can trace our singing forefathers back to two local village choirs formed in the 1940s. These were Chacewater & District Male Choir and Carnon Vale Male Choir.
We aim to be the most entertaining male voice choir in the South West and for the City of Truro to be proud of us. The ethos of the choir is to have fun and enjoy singing. Each year we host a visiting choir and also spend a weekend away.
We are a registered charity, and our current membership is over 50.We give approximately a dozen concerts a year less

As Dunedin’s leading exponent of large-scale choral works, the choir strives for the highest standards in performing the classics of the repertoire, such as Bach’s St Matthew Passion, and Christmas Oratorio, Handel’s Messiah, the Beethoven Ninth and Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius.
In addition, the choir has performed major new compositions by New Zealand composers, such as Missa Pacifica by David Hamilton in 2006, and John Drummond’s The Journey Home in 2012. For its 125th anniversary the choir commissioned a new work from Malcolm (Jack) Speirs: Cantico del Sole, and for its 150th anniversary celebrations the choir commissioned a new work from Christopher Marshall: For What Can Be More Beautiful?.
