Die Ursprünge des Europäischen Kammerchores liegen beim internationalen Chorleitungskurs in St. Moritz (Schweiz) im Jahre 2003. Seitdem treffen sich die engagierten Chorsängerinnen und -sänger aus Deutschland und den europäischen Nachbarstaaten mehrmals im Jahr in Köln zu konzentrierten Probenphasen, in denen anspruchsvolle Chorprogramme erarbeitet und dem Publikum vorgestellt werden. Dabei widmet sich der Chor immer wieder gern jenen Kleinodien des unbegleiteten Gesanges, die in Kirche und Konzertsaal seltener zu hören sind, ohne dabei die großen Werke vergangener Epochen außer Acht zu lassen. Entsprechend umfasst das Portfolio der Sängergemeinschaft beispielsweise neben nahezu vergessenen Perlen der romantischen A-cappella-Literatur auch mehrere Aufführungen der Bach‘schen Johannes-Passion, Uraufführungen von Michael Ostrzyga und Harald Weiß sowie zahlreiche Werke der neueren und neuesten Chormusik. It's members represent the multi-ethniCity of Hawaii's population and include singers of Asian, Pacific, European and American backgrounds. Singers from all walks of life, ranging in age from teens to octogenarians make up the membership of the group. The Chorale presents two major concerts each year, in addition to sponsoring a Community Chorus Festival and performing at care facilities and retirement homes. In past years they toured Hawaii's neighboring Islands, Europe, Japan and China and are planning a trip to Ireland in the future. Membership in the Chorale is open to adult singers of the Oahu Community.  less

Water Ruminations is a setting of six poems by the thirteenth-century poet Rumi, in English translations from the Persian by Coleman Barks, for double Choir and organ. The poetry sings of literal and spiritual connections between water and sky, a drop of water and human life, flowing water and love, drinking water and its container, the giddiness of spring and rolling seas, and the ocean's gifts and singing. Its images, from 800 years ago, speak to us with both vivid immediacy and transcendence.
