Boosting about 190 c...  moreFor 40 years, the Hamilton Children's Choir (HCC) has provided ways to participate and experience the joys and benefits of singing in a choir – believing that "If you can speak, you can sing." Boosting about 190 choristers ages 5 to 18, the HCC offers Youth vocal training and music instruction to foster creative expression and appreciation of music. Its latest choir program, Lads & Gents, is a boys choir program that provides young male singers (ages 8 to 28) with an opportunity to explore their choral instrument within a safe, supportive environment, surrounded by other boys and young men. An internationally-acclaimed and award-winning choir, the HCC has been invited to tour across Canada, Europe and more recently Saint-Lô, France for the Polyfollia concert (Oct. 21-26, 2014), a biennial world showcase and marketplace for choral singing. The "family" also includes older levels, a treble chamber choir, a mixed young adult Chorus, and a community adult Chorus. The Junior and Intermediate Training Choirs (JTC and ITC) provide a program of sequentially developed skills which prepare choristers for admission into the Surrey Children's Choir. The training choirs perform annually at the Family Christmas Concert and Year End concert (held in May of each year). They also often compete at the Fraser Valley Kiwanis Music Festival, always with great results. The training choirs may also perform at various events in the community. The SCC, a treble-voice choir of boys and girls aged 12-18 is a consistent gold medal winner at local festivals, hailed by Gerald Van Wyck, Vancouver Community College professor as "one of the best children's choirs in Canada". We have about 25 members currently, but we are gaining new members each year. We put on two "shows" each year to raise funds that benefit the Chorus as a whole. We also perform throughout the year at various venues - retirement communities, nursing homes, churches, banquets, and other events.

At the beginning, PSM-ITB sang only in campus society and subs...  moreOn February 11th 1962, few ITB students established Paduan Suara Mahasiswa Institut Teknologi Bandung (PSM-ITB or ITB Student Choir) which was the first university-based choir in Indonesia. At the beginning, PSM-ITB sang only in campus society and subsequently performed in public. However since 1973, it participated in various national choir competitions and repeatedly won the first prizes. This led PSM-ITB to become one of the most established choirs in Indonesia. In several occasions, the choir has been given the chance to perform in events attended by the President of Indonesia. It regularly performs in concerts, occasionally collaborated with other choirs and orchestras. In 1968 PSM-ITB organized the 1st ITB Choir Festival (FPS-ITB). Since then the festival is held biannually and becomes the largest national choir event in term of categories (from children to adult and folklore catagories) and participants.
