We ...  moreThe Island Consort Chamber choir is a 20-voice community chamber choir that first appeared in concert in late April 2007. Its repertoire is varied and loosely “classical”, focusing on sacred and secular Music of the Renaissance and Baroque periods. We rehearse Monday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30. This is an auditioned group with considerable Musical and choral experience, one that aspires to a higher standard of performance. Our members include amateur and professional Musicians, choir directors and Music educators. Prospective members may audition from time to time as positions come open. Contact the choir if you have an interest in joining. We perform mostly a cappella pieces, but many of our concerts include accompaniment by members of the Nanaimo Chamber Orchestra and organ.  less

Bernard’s Music featured on the Horrible ...  moreBernard Hughes’s Music has been performed at major venues in Britain and abroad and received a number of broadcasts on BBC Radio 3. A CD of his choral Music, I am the Song, was released in 2016 on Signum Classics. Bernard’s Music featured on the Horrible Histories film Bill (2015), and he co-produced the album, Not Now, Bernard & Other Stories, performed Orchestra of the Swan and Alexander Armstrong, released in February 2020. In January 2020 Bernard’s choral Music was featured in a portrait concert by the BBC Singers, and in November 2020 one of the pieces from that concert, I Sing of Love, was nominated by the Ivors Academy for an Ivors Composer Award. With Bernard's kind permission I am releasing this video of my multitrack performance of a part of his mass, dating from around 2006.  less

Bairstow, Poem by Shelly) Das "Ensemble quartonal" wurde im Jahr 2006 von vier ehemaligen Mitgliedern der Chorknaben Uetersen gegründet. Im Mai 2010 konnte das junge Quartett beim Deutschen Chorwettbewerb den 1. Preis in der erstmals ausgeschriebenen Kategorie der klassischen Ensembles gewinnen und wurde damit über die Landesgrenzen hinaus bekannt. Diese Aufnahme stammt von einem Konzert im Lübecker Dom.
