 Our repertoire consists mainly of folk, gospel, pop and freedom songs all sung in glorious 4 part harmony and mostly in a capella style. All choir members have online access to MP3 recordings of their parts so they can practise anytime.

We love welcoming new people so it would be great to have you along. There is no audition and everyone is welcome to come and check us out for a night before they join.  less

Currently numbering 18 singers, FCC has a broad repertoire featuring everything from early music and traditional pieces to the works of contemporary composers such as Whitacre, Pärt, Lauridsen and McMillan, and is highly regarded at home and abroad. In 2011, we travelled to Trondheim, Norway, to take part in Sangforening, a major festival featuring hundreds of Norwegian choirs, and were the first ever foreign choir invited to take part. 2012 saw us visit Languedoc, France, where we gave concerts in beautiful old churches in Alzonne and Montréal, near Carcassonne. We are active in radio and television, having featured in many broadcasts of recorded and live services by the Irish national broadcaster RTE, including one recorded in Swords CoI church which was broadcast on Christmas day, 2010 and Easter and Advent services in 2012 and 2013. There are no auditions and the standard of music that we pro...  moreHertford Choral Society is a friendly community based choir with a wide range of abilities and tastes, performing a variety of musical styles so that there is something to meet everyone's taste. There are no auditions and the standard of music that we produce is consistently high. We are regularly supported by high quality professional soloists and orchestras with the result that we produce highly enjoyable and satisfying concerts for audience and singers alike. We believe that anyone who enjoys singing should be able to experience the fun of making music with other people. All we ask is enthusiasm and a willingness to join in! Whilst in all parts of the choir we have some excellent singers, capable and willing to perform solo or in small groups this is not a requirement for joining. Typically we perform four concerts each season and rehearsals are held each Tuesday evening during School term-time at the Sele School in Hertford. Founded in 1989 by Mr. Albert Morland to provide an opportunity for ex-members of the Wonderboom High School Choir to continue singing together after matriculating, it has since evolved to include members from a broader community that come from various backgrounds and professions (including law, accounting, nursing, teaching and IT) and are between 18 and 65 years of age. The choir has toured and performed across South Africa during the past 30 years and has an established reputation as a warm, friendly and “no-fuss” group with good choral sound who are just as comfortable performing at nursing homes and other charitable events as they are performing alongside the best choirs in the world on International stages, for instance, at the 10th World Choir Games in 2018, where they took home a silver medal (79.5%) in the champion’s category for mixed adult choirs.
