AMA was formed in 2010 by a group of friends singing together for pleasure. The name - an acronym for Angela, Marilyn, and andrew - was created for the group's first concert at the end of 2011.

Comprised of professionally trained musicians, Innismara is dedicated to the performance of the intimate and hidden treasures of the vocal ensemble repertoire. Innismara made its debut in the summer of 2010 at Muses and Minstrels: A Festival of Early Performing Arts held in conjunction with the Cupids 400 celebrations. In collaboration with the Hot Earth Ensemble, Innismara performed music from the late Renaissance and early Baroque, highlights of which were recorded for national broadcast on CBC Radio. The success of these performances led to an invitation to participate in a series of workshops and performances in the Labrador Inuit communities of Nunatsiavut in the spring of 2011. Since i...  moreThe Choir was founded on November 10th, 2010 and is continuing its efforts by including in its repertoire polyphonic Turkish folk songs, Choir pieces of different periods and Cyprus polyphonic Choir pieces along with the world Choir literature. Since its foundation, the Choir is in continuous improvement and has been involved in many workshops with Prof.Mustafa Apaydın which were organized twice a year. The Choir has a mixed membership including music teachers, musicians and amateur Choir singers. The Choir’s name is inspired by the famous story written by William Shakespeare and Guiseppe Verdi’s famous opera called Othello and the Othello Castle which is located in the city of Famagusta. The city where the Choir is based is known as “Othello’s City Famagusta” all around the world. We aim to establish a strong group of singers who rehearse and perform regularly, predominantly a cappella choral works but sometimes with instruments and including some solo/small ensemble repertoire. We will be commissioning new works as well as exploring established repertoire and pieces by CoMA composers and associates. The group will reinforce as well as supplement the established CoMA Voices programme. Singers are expected to be confident singers with some sight reading experience, be prepared to tackle unusual vocal techniques and unconventional pieces.
