We are committed to building Community through excellence in a cappella harmony, and we love to learn. We rehearse weekly to improve our vocal skills and build lasting friendships in the process. Although we have diverse backgrounds, our members thrive by working together to achieve shared goals. We sing a range of repertoire from jazz standards to 21st-century pop, barbershop to show tunes, but most importantly we sing a cappella. As well as entertaining audiences across the eastern suburbs of Melbourne we compete regularly in barbershop harmony competitions at a national level. The Singing Safar...  moreTwice a year Chris Rowbury creates a choir from scratch over just six rehearsals. There are no auditions and all songs are taught by ear. The idea is that we go on an imginary Singing Safari collecting exotic songs from around the world. The Singing Safari began at the Warwick Folk Festival in 2006, and continued in 2011 when Chris moved to Suffolk. The winter safari ends in a shared concert in Ipswich, and the summer safari is a free half hour performance outdoors. Each safari learns about eight songs in 3- and 4-part harmony.  less

A restless, energetic SATB piece suitable for collegiate Choirs. A driving piano part--influenced by minimalism and rock music--provides a rhythmic impetus for more expansive, colorful vocal lines. At turns frenzied, lyrical, and visceral, this piece pays disillusioned tribute to that not-so-glamorous icon of the open road, the Greyhound bus.
