This is the abridged version of "The 21st Century (A Girl Born in Afghanistan)," a setting for mixed choir of excerpts from Kofi Annan's Nobel Peace Prize lecture. Performed by the Southwest Minnesota State University Chorale under Stephen Kingsbury.

Argentine composer, pianist and music director Ariel Ramírez composed the Mass for Peace and Justice in 1981, during the military dictatorship in Argentina. His childhood friend, the presbytery Osvaldo Catena, assembled the texts, amongst which is the Peace message of Pope John Paul II of 1979.
