The group is formerly known as Chorus Leviticus, from the word "Frisco" it means San Francisco Del Monte, it is a small town founded by our patron San Pedro Bautista during 1590, the group is comprised of mostly students, out of school youth, young professionals and music enthusiast from the Parish Youth and Music Ministry of Archdiocesan Shrine of Santuario De San Pedro Bautista in Quezon City,which is also known as one of the oldest church in the Philippines and the provincial house of the Franciscans. As our patron saint San Pedro Bautista, a Franciscan missionary, a saint who lived in our community, and who was the first missionary to teach liturgical music to local children and organized church choirs in the Philippines. This 65 to 70 member, mixed-voice ensemble sings for services in Christ Chapel, for Christmas in Christ Chapel, an annual spring tour, and at special College events. Major city tour destinations have included San Antonio, St. Louis, Kansas City, Chicago, Milwaukee, Lincoln, and Omaha. Membership is by audition. Conducted by Bradon Dean.

When Santiago and I began to discuss this commission, we kept returning to the subject of mental health and inclusion. In a discussion with students, one student voiced that they “feel excluded and not cared for,” and that their struggle with mental health “has made [them] feel alone and helpless.” Santiago begins the piece with an old, quasi-ritualistic melody that calls back to previous times and traditions. As the work continues, the melody unites together with the other voices to emulate inclusion and unity of voices. His text draws parallels to nature and how we are able to bloom through the darkness of adversity with the help of others. When Odwa Mvunge return to his birth community in 2012, after completing his music education studies at Nelson Mandela University, not much has changed. There still was no place in Zolani for the youth to express themselves in cultural activities that was not offered at school nor in the community. After school the youth would loiter around without direction. This lead to the formation of the Zolani Youth choir. The basic idea and purpose of the Choir is to equip youth of our community with basic music skills. The Choir consists of 25 scholars from different schools who are between the ages of 12 and 26 years. These scholars have no professional training or background in formal music, but have proven to have a passion and love for the art. The choir sings evensong every Sunday during term and performs in concerts organised by Somerville Music Society. Somerville Choir is currently being conducted by David Crown. He is assisted by the two organ scholars, Douglas Knight and Robert Pecksmith (ofollow">http://www.robert-smith.org.uk ), and choir manager Stefan Schwarz. Since David Crown took over as Director of Chapel Music in 2007, the choir has been involved in two opera productions (Purcell's 'Dido and Aeneas ' and Gluck's 'Orfeo ed Euridice') as well as concerts in Oxford, Brighton, Wells, Swindon, Upton upon Severn and Steeple Aston. In recent years the choir has also sung evensong at Southwark, Worcester, Winchester, Wells and Berlin Cathedrals.
