we sing in A cappella, we range from ages 25 to 30.. we are classically trained vocally and in composition. we perform in all kind of events such as weddings, cooperate functions, etc.

During it’s long history the Choir won many prestigious awards at numerous competitions and festivals . The Choir’s primary goals are: preserving and nurturing local and foreign secular and spiritual choral art, expanding culture, art and musical amateurism, engaging in various ceremonies, contests and other public performances. In achieving these goals, special attention is paid to professional and musical developing of singers and developing civic awareness and academic life. Our aims are to achieve high standards of singing and performance, and to contribute to our local community. Our annual programme typically includes 6-8 concerts in the Harpenden area and further afield, a cathedral tour, open singing days and the occasional recording. We rehearse on Wednesday evenings at St George’s School, Harpenden. We are known for good music making, varied repertoire including regular commissions, excellent soloists, interesting concert venues and loyal patronage of a range of local hostelries…. We come from a wide range of musical backgrounds and have a thriving interns scheme for talented singers from local Schools. Over our 50 year history, the Leas have sung under 11 permanent conductors and many guests, each of whom has made a distinctive contribution to our style and repertoire. Under the direction of Lisa Wong, the Choir has been praised for its beauty of sound, high level of artistry, and engaging performances. The Wooster Chorus presents several concerts both on and off-campus throughout the academic year, and embarks each spring on a week-long domestic tour. Membership is by audition. Recent collaborative performances have included Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 in D Minor with the Cleveland Orchestra and Cleveland Orchestra Chorus.  less

We rehearse, in excellent facilities provided by Hutchesons' Grammar School, on Monday evenings, Aug - Nov and Jan - Mar; we give two concerts, in Nov and Mar, in an on-site auditorium, with 3-manual digital organ. The auditorium can accommodate 60 singers, up to 30 orchestral players and an audience of around 250 (300 max).

ABOUT THE Choir: Since 2009, the CWU Chamber Choir has held annual recording sessions to create videos specifically designed for YouTube. All are under the baton of Dr. Gary A. Weidenaar, who has been the director of the Choir since 2006. As of Fall, 2016; there are 26 videos.
