Kyrie - Une heure ou deux me restent dans ce bruit sonore que tu es ... soprano and alto solos (distant and present voices) with guitar accompaniment 2. Un dernier regard car la fenêtre ouverte que tu es se clôt....soprano (still singing Kyrie) and alto with guitar accompaniment 3. Alone we are together in this place - two alto recorders and guitar with spoken voice 4. He makes men pure from their sins (words by St Paul) - two equal voices with guitar chord names 5. How I wrote the composition Hope to process a miscarriage, or how I wrote I Will Lift My...  morePROGRAM NOTES: While reading James Weldon Johnson’s poem for the first Time, I was immediately reminded of all the difficult Times that music has helped me through. How I wrote the composition Hope to process a miscarriage, or how I wrote I Will Lift My Eyes at a Time when multiple family members, both young and old, were being diagnosed with cancer. No matter life’s challenges, music has always been an outlet for me to cope and heal. It has helped me to persevere and fight through some of life's most difficult moments, ulTimately making me a stronger person. The world can be a challenging place, but each of us are warriors—armed with the gift to sing, and filled with the fire, passion, drive, and grit to conquer anything.  less

For years, the ensemble has used an arrangement of Irish Blessing to welcome new members and bid farewell to graduati...  moreWhen I was in high school (2007–2011), I sang in a student organization called The Midnight Men, a group that has been active since 2007. For years, the ensemble has used an arrangement of Irish Blessing to welcome new members and bid farewell to graduating seniors. After nearly two decades of performing the same version, my former high school director, Matt Wanner, reached out to me in 2026 with the opportunity to create a new arrangement of this cherished tradition. In writing this setting, I sought to create something both accessible and meaningful, while providing opportunities to feature students, whether graduating seniors or gifted soloists, in a special way. It is my hope that this arrangement will become a meaningful part of the ensemble’s tradition and hold a special place in the hearts of its members for many years to come.  less

PROGRAM NOTES: “I breathed a song into the air, it fell to earth I knew not where.” Ten years ago, I wrote a composition called Always Keep This Close with little idea of where it would go or what it would come to mean for others. To find that song living in the hearts of other musicians is both humbling and surprising. For me, it’s a reminder of how powerful our actions and words can be. Something that feels insignificant to one person can be life-changing to another. While creating The Heart of a Friend, I knew from the start that I wanted to shape a melodic arc that captured the trajectory of both the arrow and the song. I felt strongly that the first two stanzas needed to end at a high point, preserving the uncertainty of where each might land. Only in the third stanza does the melody turn downward, revealing the rest of its path. I then combine these two halves to symbolically represent reflection—looking back on an action and seeing the journe...    less
