Praised by the Washington Post as "singing passionately with utter precision," Zemer Chai sings the full range of Jewish Choral repertoire, from classical and liturgical pieces to commissioned works and folk music from around the world. Founded by conductor Eleanor Epstein in 1976, Zemer Chai brings together singers from all walks of Jewish life who share a commitment to performing this music with soul and authenticity. Zemer Chai has performed at the White House, Library of Congress, Strathmore and Kennedy Center, as well as in concert halls in Boston, Philadelphia, New York, and throughout Israel. Humming And Ah-ing Machine is an innovative and fun composition by John White for unaccompanied SATB chorus. The work is made up of short repeated phrases that evolve and entwine, creating a hypnotic and exciting overall work. We performed this piece at a concert in St Michael's Cornhill, London, in 1983.  less
