The choristers met each other during their nine-year education in fine arts as members of the St. Thomas Boys choir Leipzig. Today the ensemble consists of tenors Christian Pohlers and Paul Heller as well as basses Felix Hübner, Lucas Heller and Lukas Lomtscher. Their repertoire ranges from late medieval mass songs to modern age works. The five young musicians attach great importance to the works of German Romantic composers, such as Schubert, Schumann and Mendelssohn Bartholdy, as well as to their extensive repertoire of church music. The ensemble successfully collaborates with a number of other artists, such as the composer Manfred Schlenker(GER), who dedicated his motet Gott wohnt in einem Lichte to the quintet, on a regular basis. Volker Bräutigam wrote several pieces for them to perform during the festivities at the 35th Leipziger Jazztage. We are a mixed-voice choir of around 30 singers, performing a wide variety of secular and sacred "classical"; choral music. We mainly sing a cappella, and tend to focus on lesser-known older works, and modern repertoire, often from living composers. However, this is by no means exclusive! The choir sings three main concerts per year, with a charity carol concert just before Christmas. We are also a sociable bunch, with regular social events and a number of 'spin-off' groups.  less

The two outer movements draw their words and inspiration from boisterous cries of 17th century market vendors as once featured in 'The Cries of London' by orlando Gibbbons. The second movement features the words of a Scottish poet, William Dunbar (c. 1460-c.1520), in which he praises the English capital, and includes the line 'London, thou art the flower of cities all'. Together, these settings evoke a surprisingly contemporary impression of London's sights, sounds, and moods, inspiring some irresistible music, by turns contemplative and unquenchably thrilling. This 'capital' cantata was written in 2001 for the Diamond Jubilee of the Barnet Choral Society, of which Chilcott is President.  less

In addition we champion the music from current composers such a Miskinis, Part and Dubra. In addition we love singing Tallis, Byrd and Tomkins, Tye, Victoria, Guerrero and Padilla etc! We are based in Milton Keynes and have a reputation as being among the very best in the region. We are available for concerts and weddings, plus services in cathedrals and churches. We have provided the services at key UK cathedrals including Westminster Abbey, Salisbury, Hereford and Coventry to name a few.  less
