Romulo as President of the University of the Philippines. Through its 50 years of existence, the group has metamorphosed from being a simple university chorale into a musical force of national and world stature. Aside from its undeniable musical prowess and versatility in performing classical, Filipino folk, pop, and Broadway genres—all with ease, the Concert Chorus is also recognized as the pioneer of choreographed song for a Choir. This innovation was started by the late Dean Reynaldo T. Paguio in 1969, and flourished under top choreographers like Edru Abraham, Gener Caringal, Tony Fabella, Edna Vida, Sonia Domingo, Steve Villaruz, Rene Hofileña, Ianne Damian, Paul Morales, Allan Samonte, and Ernest Hojilla, to name a few. We sing music from the early 1900's through to more modern songs such as Billy Joel, The Rat Pack etc. The chorus focuses on improving singing techniques and making chords "ring" while at the same time simply having fun. We love it when a 4 part chord is correctly tuned and the chord just locks together and harmonics (or overtones) ring out loud and strong. We compete every year in local contest as a mean of measuring our progress against similar groups but we just love to perform for the public and so our contest activities are very well balanced with public performance. We also have a great time together as one of our goals is to provide a place where men can gather and enjoy their interest in singing. The Harbour Capital Chorus was formed in Wellington on February 4th, 1988 following pioneering work by the “Co-ordinated Chemists” Quartet for several years prior to that.
