Swan. Foreward: Santiago Veros wrote Almas de Barro at the age of 19, dedicating it to a young woman who at the time was shy and with whom he rarely talked. This piece intimately describes the moments during music theory classes when the two would look at each other continuously, youthfully, and silently, as if unable to do anything else. The piece, written as a counterpoint assignment, was intended to be performed during music theory class as a declaration of love. The idea was to make a musical representation of those moments. The group would like to promote their vast repertoire ...  moreFounded in 2001 by Cyrille Rault-Gregorio, the Choir of the “Chambre Arthémys” is comprised of 18 singers chosen especially for their Vocal and musical talents. These singers also perform as soloists. The group would like to promote their vast repertoire of singing ‘a cappella’ (without instruments) pieces from 16th to 21st century and their different styles. As well as being accompanied by orchestral ensembles, the Choir often work with notable composers (Lucian Tuguy, Thibault Maillé, Jean-Christophe Marti…) who help to create the musical pieces. Ranging from traditional concerts to original and artistic experiences, the Choir is always seeking to give value to all of the creative initiatives. In 2006, the Choir collaborated with dancers from the Paris Opera House for the ballet of Stéphane Elizabé, “De l'Autre côté à l'amphithéâtre Bastille” (From the other side of the Bastille Amphitheatre). As Turkiye's first Barbershop style Vocal ensemble, the qartet became the first Turkish member of the Barbershop Harmony Society. The quartet has performed at various prestigious venues including Casa Botter, Akbank Sanat, BKM Mutfak, Pera Museum, Borusan Music House, Santa Maria Draperis Church, St. Pierre and St. Paul's Church. In 2017, they received an invitation from Harmony University - Quartet College in Nashville, USA, and became the first Turkish quartet to attend this annual Barbershop convention and performed to international audience. Barbershop Istanbul was greatly appreciated by the audience in Nashville, the birthplace of the genre, as well as in Turkiye. The quartet's repertoire includes not only classical Barbershop arrangements and Barbershop arrangements of popular music, but also Kaan Bayır's works of popular, traditional and classical turkish music arranged in Barbershop style.  less
