From its beginning it has been affiliated with ZAMEK Culture Centre. Experienced and respected pedagogues-musicians look after The musical development of The girls and artistic program. The Choir is conducted and creatively inspired by its Artistic Director and Conductor Alicja Szeluga, an educator and choral music aficionado. The Vocal Coach Marzena Michałowska, and accompanying pianist Czesław Łynsza, as well as percussionist Beata Polak complete The musical team. The SKOWRONKI Girls Choir also has programs for younger groups. The ensemble is consists of 140 girls aged between 6 and 22. The singers of The choir are secondary school students as well as students from universities of Poznań. The group’s repertoire rediscovers and promotes works of various composers from different periods as well as performs pieces commissioned especially for The choir. Much of The music we sing is arranged in The barbershop style. Along with entertaining our local audience KCC competes in The Mid Atlantic District of The Barbershop Harmony Society and is a consistent champion in our Division. KCC also promotes quartet singing as well as a cappella singing among The Youth in our region. Rehearsals are Tuesday evenings 7pm and are always open for visitors so feel free to visit to find out more and to see if our group is right for you.  less

It also reflects much of The liturgical and popular symbolism of The Christmas season: robins, holly etc and it brings our thoughts towards The season of Easter with The blood of Good Friday.

While The majority of The singers are undergraduate music majors, membership is open to all students at The university through an audition process. The group has achieved an impressive reputation of excellence, having been chosen each of The last twenty years to perform at conventions or festivals around The country: The Pennsylvania Music Educators State Conference; The Eastern Division Music Educators National Conference; The Music Educators National Convention; The American Choral Directors Association Pennsylvania State Conference, and The ACDA Eastern Division Convention.
