Ages include high School to adult, encouraging families to perform together in one group. We also feature an eclectic orchestra with instruments from a variety of cultures including but not limited to strings, brass, percussion, taiko, sitar, and more!  

We have recently launched the John Hanson Community Choir. Open to all ages across the community of Andover and beyond. Come and join us and join in with the fun and love of singing together. Every Thursday evening 6-8 pm at John Hanson Community School - Andover

Founded in September 2000 by a group of friends from the National Youth Choir of Great Britain, the Choir comprises mainly of recent graduates and current students of Durham University, but also welcomes singers from all over the North East, and includes ...  moreFounded in September 2000 by a group of friends from the National Youth Choir of Great Britain, the Choir comprises mainly of recent graduates and current students of Durham University, but also welcomes singers from all over the North East, and includes many of the region’s teachers. In May, the Choir travelled to Italy to take part in the “Venezia in Musica” International Choral Competition. They won first prize in the secular music category, came runners up in the sacred music category, and received the “Outstanding Performance” prize for Bogorditsye Dyevo by Rachmaninov. They have been awarded “Choir of the Day” at all five BBC Radio 3 Choir of the Year regional rounds they have entered, and in 2008 reached the adult category finals in the Royal Philharmonic Hall in Liverpool, alongside the six other best adult Choirs in the country. It has grown to a higher level by achieving numerous titles within the past few years and also recognized as the best Tenor Bass voices from a School Choir around the country. (Title gained 2014 onwards). The Choir has performed in National and International level stages (2012 Rome) and hosting many choral events in negombo including the biggest carol service in Negombo since 2007.(Maris Carols). It is trained by Mr. Francis De Almeida (Choral Director) since 2004. This Choir has influences some youth Choirs including Speranza , etc.... And also the Past Pupils Choir (The Old Maris Choir).
