Voxtet was basically formed ...  more1998 Voxtet was founded by Martin Mikeš and his several friends. A year before, there was already a male vocal group consisting of six members called MIKE 6, the establishment of which was inspired by a US vocal group TAKE 6. Voxtet was basically formed by subsequent addition of female singers to MIKE6. The formation of Voxtet started out with nine persons but, during the first three years, it ca me down to the current six members. Most of the singers in Voxtet have their musical background in various choirs. Some of them still sing in Jihlava’s famous PS Campanula choir. 1999 Voxtet’s first concert took place on 31 May 1999 in Jihlava’s Horácké theatre. From then on, Voxtet’s performed at various minor events as well as its own big shows. 1999-2001 At the beginning, Voxtet was remarkable especially due to the absolute lack of a distinct dramaturgy. The Musical Director has, since 2013, been Dominic Ellis-Peckham. We foster a friendly and supportive environment, and have regular social activities. We're relaxed but focused when it comes to pursuing musical excellence and have a keen shared purpose in developing our individual vocal skills, and pushing ourselves with new and challenging repertoire from across the centuries and genres. Each season the choir usually promotes around six concerts in London in venues such as St James's Piccadilly and St Paul's Covent Garden, and organises two weekend tours - one in the UK, and one overseas (recent destinations include Paris, Porto and Rome); and we regularly receive external bookings.​ Past engagements have included with Pete Townshend and Alfie Boe for 'Classic Quadrophenia' at the Royal Albert Hall, and with Madonna for the Eurovision Song Contest Final in Tel Aviv.  less

In my attempt, “O magnum mysterium” returns three times after the first statement, in a similar gesture but each time shifted to a new tonality with even more flats. Thus, the listener gets ever more pulled into this magnificent text until the piece culminates in a jubilant “Alleluia” in C-major, having come full-circle back to very first harmony we heard.  less

We are an auditioning, non-professional chamber choir, performing a diverse programme of repertoire at regular intervals throughout the year. We draw our membership from the hugely successful EC4 Music, a choir and orchestra that is widely regarded as one of the leading large amateur groups in London, and it is from this platform of success that CCoV takes its lead. EC4 Music recently performed at the Barbican for the fifth time, raising money for The Prince’s Trust and is also very excited to be making its Royal Festival Hall debut in October this year to mark the grand finale of the Lord Mayor's Appeal 2011. Lord Mayor, Michael Bear's appeal supports children’s charity Coram and RedR, a charity that trains and provides engineers and other relief workers to respond to worldwide emergencies.
